Hokanson/Blanchard Family
The Big Wheel Ranch was established in 2013. We are located about 40 min away from Tacoma/JBLM and 10 min from Olympia. The stable has six stalls with runs and four large pastures for turn out. We are extremely fortune to have the Chehalis Western trail, JBLM training areas, and a plethora of other trails close by. The Ocean beaches are just a hop skip and a jump along with cross country school facilities too!
Horses are just second nature to me, I grew up riding and showing and it has always been one of my greatest loves. I have experience riding english and western competing at the local and national level in western pleasure and eventing. I believe you can never know too much and continue to learn and grow through lessons and mentorship with other equine professionals.
Our three boys Canaan, Arthur, and Finn can always be found running around the farm with nerf guns or sticks. They all help with chores and work effortlessly to desentive the animals. Our farm is home to our non-equine animals to include mini-pigs (Hamlet and Stewart), donkeys (Pedro and Bucky), barn kitties, and dogs (Sarge, Freyja, Scout, and Boo).
The Origins of Our Farm's Name: My grandfather US Navy retired Arthur Blanchard (Doc) would get after my sisters and I for various shenanigans. He would say, "What do you think?! You think you are the Big Wheel". To which I would respond to him, that someday I would have a farm and would name it th
